The Cinq app will automatically locate the computer running Cinq Server and access your photo library on that computer provided that you have a working EDGE, 3G or WiFi connection and your computer is connected to an active network.
Do I need to use iPhoto on my Mac in order to use Cinq?
No, Cinq does not require iPhoto. Cinq can optionally use iPhoto to deliver iPhoto library information to the iPhone from your home Mac or Cinq can be configured to deliver folder information to the iPhone. Cinq can also be configured to provide both iPhoto and folder information simultaneously.
Does my computer need to be running for me to access my photo library from my iPhone or iPod touch?
Cinq can automatically wake up Mac computers operating more recent Operating Systems. Open System Preferences → Energy Saver and check the ‘Wake for Ethernet network access’ box.
Or if you would like to turn off Sleep mode on your Mac, open System Preferences → Energy Saver and make sure ‘Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible’ is unchecked and drag the ‘Computer sleep’ slider all the way to right above ‘Never.’
If you are using a PC, in order to ensure that you have access to your photos all the time when you are away, you need to set your computer to “never” sleep. You can do this by going into the Control Panel → Power Options → Change when the computer sleeps to “never” sleep.
Note: You may choose to put your display to sleep after a certain amount of time, as this will not affect your computer’s connection to the Internet. When your display is asleep but your computer is on, energy usage is minimal.
What is the Cinq Name in the Preferences dialog box?
The Cinq Name is the name of your photo library that will appear in the Cinq app. By default this is called “Home.” If you wish to use a different name, enter a unique Alphanumeric name (8 character max) in the box, that will easily identify your photo library in the Cinq app
