I bought this app the other day and I've been largely disappointed with it so far. It has a lot of potential but it acts buggy, at least from my experience with it.
Cinq Server Library Manager (Windows 7)
- [Bug?] I created a Cinq account and logged in. Cinq saw my library fine. I decided to make another account using a primary email. Cinq logged into that account fine, but wouldn't show my PC in the home screen. I restarted CinqServer and the Cinq app to no avail. I'm back on the initial account.
- [Bug?] Cannot move, delete, or rename some folders in Windows Explorer if it's added to the Cinq Server Library Manager. When CinqServer is closed I'm able to manipulate those folders without being denied with a prompt that I need permission, though I already gave Windows User Account admin permission to perform the task. While trying to duplicate this possible bug, it seems that any photo added to the library manually gets locked down (unable to delete, rename, or move it). But sub-folders that are created in Windows after the main folder has already been added to the library are not locked down.
Cinq App (for the iPad)
- [Erratic/buggy behavior] Viewing pics can be problematic. Unfortunately the experience isn't as smooth as Apple's official photo app. Often flicking a pic only moves it towards the left or right margin, and sometimes completely off the screen. A simple flick or drag is not being interpreted as an instruction to move towards the next or previous pic. Double clicking a pic zooms it in, but when moving around a zoomed in pic, the pic gets cropped, or reverts back to its original size in my experience. Double tapping it again sometimes puts it back to the original size, or sometimes it zooms in again. The behavior seems really erratic. It would be nice if the zooming and viewing behavior were standardized to work like they do in the official Photo iPad app; meaning the following behavior: Flicks or drags move to the previous or next photo. Pinching either zooms in and out of a pic – while zoomed in or out, the picture cannot be flicked until it is double tapped to go back to its original display size. Simple, and people will already know how to use it because that's how it behaves in the official Photo app.
- [Bug? Sometimes folders that were removed and then re-added to the Library Manager appear twice in the Cinq App's main "Folder Albums" view.
- [Suggestion] I haven't been able to replicate this, but it seems if I'm in Cinq and I receive a push notification, I am required to re-login with my password after closing the notification prompt. I have Cinq set to not remember my password when I leave the app, but I'm not actually leaving the app, I'm just closing the notification prompt.

- [Feature suggestion] I mainly use Cinq to view pictures over my LAN. I find the speed at which it transfers pics from CinqServer to the iPad is really slow. Is Cinq sending the pics through my LAN (directly from CinqServer over to the iPad), or is it sending them through the Internet? If the latter, I'd suggest some kind of feature or option that uses the LAN when there's no need to transfer them through the Internet. Not only is it faster, it doesn't constitute a hit against a monthly bandwidth quota. Streaming apps like Air Video already have the option to connect through the LAN or Internet. If Cinq already does this [connect over the LAN], why is it so slow at sending pics over my LAN? StreamToMe and Air Video are able to buffer and begin streaming a 4GB HD video to my iPad faster than Cinq is at displaying pics that range from 50KB to 1MB in size — it doesn't make sense.
