Hi,

Thanks for also getting the iPad version of Cinq!

Glad to hear that the swiping is working better there for you.  We will migrate our swiping code from the iPad version (latest) into the iPhone version so it will work the same on both devices.

We do utilize the EXIF data.

Maybe the setting to insert orientation info is off in your D300?

If not, can you please send us a photo that has this issue and we can review it?

Also, Are you saving in RAW format or JPG? RAW does not support EXIF data.

Also, in iPhoto, are the images displin the correct orientation?  We will show them the same as you will see in iPhoto.

Regards,

Curtis

Hi again, and thx for quick response.

By Windows Home Server, I mean the actual "Windows Home Server" OS by Microsoft.

Is this OS not supported by Cinq. Windows Home Server (WHS) is almost 100% comparable to Windows Server 2003, so if that is supported, it shouldn't cause any problems.

I've now purchased the iPad version, and so far i haven't had any problems with the swipe-gesture on that one..

I should mention that I've installed Cinq on an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0.1.

Another issue though, that appear on both devices, is that the orientation for non-edited pictures taken with a relatively new DSLR (Nikon D300), is not recognized correctly. By that I mean photos shot in Portrait mode, is not autmatically rotated, and remain horizontal. This i definitively something you should take a look at.

Edited/Retouched photos (Photoshop, etc) display correctly, but that may because the EXIF-data i.e. have been updated or someting.

Hope to see an updated version for iPad & iPhone soon :-)

Hello,

Sorry you are having issues with Cinq. It is working very well for nearly all of our users.  We must have an unusual situation/configuration which is causing the problem you are experiencing.

The best way for us to assist you is for you to send the Problem report from the Cinq Server "Q" icon in the Windows task bar.  Once I receive your report, I can review it to see what might be causing the problem.

Also, you mention Windows Home Server, is this a:

1. Actual "Windows Home Server" product

2. A "Windows Server 2003, 2008 2008R2" that is at Home

3. A Windows (XP,Vista,7) desktop OS

Regarding the swiping gestures, we are working on improved functionality on the iPhone version.  The purpose of the Next/Back arrows is to make it easier to go to another photo while zoomed in.  They disappear automatically after two seconds.

The reason for being able to swipe vertically is to allow for panning while zoomed in.  The Photos App does this also while zoomed in.  Our iPad version has our new swiping code which will also be migrated to the iPhone version which makes vertical swiping not allowed UNLESS zoomed in which is obviously more intuative.

Looking forward to your problem report so we can get your problem resolved and you can begin enjoying Cinq!

Best regards,

Curtis

Hi…

I've just installed the Cinq Server on my Windows Home Server, and the client-app on my iPhone 4, in hope that this solution would suit my needs to view photos remotely/wirelessly.

This solution is a great idea, but in practice it unfortunately doesn't work correctly.

Everytime I try to swipe to the next/previous photo, the iPhone App freezes, only displaying the spinning indicator, and a restart is the only solution…..

It seems like that if I (the user) does not completely swipe the current photo all the way to the right or left, the app hangs and doesn't change the photo correctly. The same happens if i try to swipe a photo vertically (which in my opinion is completely pointless, as people normally are used to the native iPhone/iPad Photo library app, and vertical swiping is locked.)

Edit: Tested a few times more, and the same thing also happens when i try to zoom/pinch a photo: The spinning indicator displays, and a restart is required.

Another thing I question, is the left/right arrow buttons…. Why is this neccessary? Swiping photos/pictures on an iPhone/iPod/iPad is one of the MOST essential features it gives you. So, again, people know how to do this. Okay, I understand that it might be helpful for some people, but at least let people decide whether to display these or not.

Finally, I was very exited about this app and was really looking forward to start using it, but an app that constantly is freezing several time durnig a few minutes of use, is not what people want.

So, my suggestions are:

- Lock vertical swiping

- Remove (or give users the choice to hide) left/right arrow buttons

- And last but not least: Make it STABLE….

Thx.

Dissapointed customer who have paid for an app that is not working properly…
